I took these tonight so I could practice with by external flash. I was determined to get pictures without pinpoint catchlights. I think I did it! In the first three pictures, I bounced the flash off the ceiling and used my Gary Fong Lightsphere. What do you all think? Do they look flashy? The one below was taken with the same setup but I bounced the flash off of the wall to my left. I am excited with the catchlights in this one. Anyone have any tips they want to share for flash photography? By the way...how excited was my daughter that I actually LET her jump on Mommy's bed?!?

i think they look great! #3 does look a bit flashy to me, but this is something i'm also working on. #4 is fabulous!
You got some great catchlights in the last one with a flash! Awesome job on that. I agree that they don't look flashy, except for the third one. :) I'm no good with flash, you did a wonderful job.

I just got my 430EX Friday so I know exactly how you are feeling. I really like the last one. I bet she was happy to jump on your bed, kids LOVE those kinds of things.
